ARF members and friends are actively rescuing abandoned companion animals all the time. They are cared for in their rescuer's homes until a permanent home can be found.
There are sometimes circumstances that prevent owners from keeping their pets. ARF wants to help find these pets new homes. These dogs are not "for sale", but simply need good new homes. These dogs will be listed for 60 days ONLY. It will be the responsibility of the owner/rescuer to renew the listing.
All animals posted must be spayed/neutered unless too young. (We do occasionally post those not spayed/neutered if we feel it is an urgent situation to benefit the dog.)
ARF is not responsible for the cost of vaccinations, spay or neuter or any other costs associated with the animals listed on this web page!
If you are having a behavior problem with your dog, PLEASE first try to correct or modify the behavior before just trying to find another home for the dog! If you don't see the dog you're looking for below, be sure to check out http://www.petfinder.com whereby you can search by breed in your local area of rescue organizations.
ARF tips on finding a new home for an animal:
|WORD OF CAUTION TO THOSE LOOKING FOR HOMES FOR PIT BULLS!!||A couple of men from the Muskogee have attempted to adopt pit bull dogs telling shelters they are training pit bull dogs as assistance dogs for an injured veterans' group, but the veterans' group didn't confirm their story. Because of the prevalence of dogfighting, it is very important to check out every potential adopter of pit bull dogs before letting them go. Being used as a bait dog is doubtlessly one of the worst things that can happen to a dog--far worse than being euthanized!|
