Other Dogs
In Need of Homes

The Animal Rescue Site
Vote for ARF daily 4/13 thru 7/26!

ARF members and friends are actively rescuing abandoned companion animals all the time. They are cared for in their rescuer's homes until a permanent home can be found.

There are sometimes circumstances that prevent owners from keeping their pets. ARF wants to help find these pets new homes.  These dogs are not "for sale", but simply need good new homes.  These dogs will be listed for 60 days ONLY.  It will be the responsibility of the owner/rescuer to renew the listing.

All animals posted must be spayed/neutered unless too young.  (We do occasionally post those not spayed/neutered if we feel it is an urgent situation to benefit the dog.)

ARF is not responsible for the cost of  vaccinations, spay or neuter or any other costs associated with the animals listed on this web page!

If you are having a behavior problem with your dog, PLEASE first try to correct or modify the behavior before just trying to find another home for the dog!

If you don't see the dog you're looking for below, be sure to check out http://www.petfinder.com whereby you can search by breed in your local area of rescue organizations.

ARF tips on finding a new home for an animal:

* Tell EVERYONE you know that you are trying to find a home for the animal - family, friends, neighbors, business contacts, school mates - everyone!

* Email a picture with description to ARF at arfok@sbcglobal.net or send via snail mail to P.O. Box 3292, Bartlesville, OK 74006 to request a posting on this web site, and update the information every 60 days.

* Call ARF at 918-766-0991 and leave a description of the animal with contact name and number, along with permission to publish the info on this web site.

* Post a picture and description at your veterinarian's office.

* Call KWON 1400AM radio (336-1400) to advertise the animal on Consumer Calls weekday mornings from 9:10am - 9:30am and Saturdays from 9:10am to Noon.

* Place an ad in the local newspaper.

* Post a picture and description at your church, school, work place or other places you frequent..

OTHER DOGS NEEDING HOMES (by Number & Breed)

Australian Terrier
5 years old, S/F.  Her mother cannot care for the dogs any longer and caller has too many now.  Megan Hudson, 814-1420.    (6/5/09)

Dear Friends,
We picked up this mama with five 3 week old pups off a country road 3  weeks ago. They were all starving to death ... so we drag them home. The pups eyes were barely open. They have grown and thrived and are available for adoption next weekend after May 1st.  We don't know what they are but the mom weighs about 20 pounds. I suspect the "baby daddy" is heeler or Australian Shepard. Pups are very sweet and social.  Email me (best because I travel) or call 405-306-0057 mobile (Paula Blakely). We are back and forth between Tulsa area and Norman area. BUSTER - male, fat and fuzzy grey and black spots HALLE BERRY - female , beautiful taupe spotted, I think she may have 1 blue eye   ANNIE - female, Brown/Black Brindle, the smallest, hair is a little >wirey and cute   BETSY - female, CUTE, husky markings with some spots   HENRY - male, cute and spotted, loves to kiss   HEATHER - the mama >She is about 2 years old, about 20 lbs, house broke, calm, minds very well, VERY sweet, and a great mom. Good with cats and other dogs... Happy Trails, Paula  pj@BlueSkyRanchOK.com  (5/12/09)

Chow Mix
"Cheyenne" needs a good country home for Cheyenne.  She is a S/F, adopted from the Humane Society 4 years ago, she likes all animals--dogs and cats, housebroken and loves to be inside.
I need to find her a new home in the country because she has been digging out of my yard letting all my small dogs out which has led to trouble with Animal Control--I cannot afford to keep paying the fines for her getting out. I would like to find a home where she can be inside/outside with room to run.  See more pics at http://tulsa.craigslist.org/pet/1213150441.html

I am a Great Pyrenees (above) who needs a home.  I'm 2 yrs old, female, had

much, I'm very gentle, low key and don't shed!!  I need a permanent home
where I can become a part of the family.  I don't want to be left out

give you if you promise to love and protect me.

UPDATE 6/9/09--TOBY HAS RECEIVED HEARTWORM TREATMENTS DUE TO A GENEROUS DONOR THROUGH ARF AND WILL SOON BE READY FOR A NEW HOME - NOW RECOVERING IN FOSTER CARE.  Toby (above) is my seven year old Labrador Retriever.  She was mine and my husband’s first dog and she used to be our baby.  We always took her to the lake to swim, played ball, and would load her into the truck to take her anywhere and everywhere.   My three year old son was recently diagnosed with a lifelong medical condition that requires treatment up to six times per week.  Due primarily to his condition and the birth of our second child, the time allotted to Toby has become almost non-existent.   I knew I had to find a better home for her and attempted to have her adopted through Lab Rescue.  As part of the program, she had to be tested for Heart Worms. Toby tested positive, and Lab Rescue would no longer take her.   I am desperate to find Toby a good home.  Before we put Toby down, we are offering $300 payable to any vet for a dog lover who wants to take Toby under their care.    We recently took Toby to Catoosa Small Animal Clinic (918.266.4090) and they estimated the cost at about $300. They also said prognosis is great with this treatment.  She should have no ill effects if treated properly.

Toby is not at all aggressive towards dogs or people; however, she can be protective (in a good way).  We used to live in a neighborhood with a very aggressive dog. While walking Toby one day, the dog attempted to attack me and my infant son.  Toby went after  the dog and chased it off.  She did a similar thing when the same dog tried to attack a family member’s dog.  She also barks and gets protective when service men come to our  gate. She makes a good watch dog. She has never bitten any person or dog (except in the situation described above).

Facts about Toby:  Loves to play ball, loves the water, wonderful with children and adults of all ages. She is one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever owned.
Health Conditions: has always been very healthy.  Requires treatment for heart worms  and requires regular ear cleaning (prone to ear infections).
Age:  Toby is seven years old, but still acts and plays like a puppy.
Weight:  85 pounds
Gender: Female (spayed)
